How to Prevent Adobe PhotoShop from Connecting to Internet

March 14, 2013 Posted by Skai

Some people are complaining that Adobe PhotoShop 4 and newer versions are connecting to the internet at the start of the software. Be it that it may slow down your system or you simply do not trust any software to automatically connect to the internet due to privacy issue, you can prevent it.

Please note that this trick is not going to modify anything on the software.

Basically, there are just two steps:

1. Open C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts using Notepad

2. At the bottom of the hosts file, copy the following to it.

127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 practivate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 ereg.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate.wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 3dns-3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 3dns-2.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns-2.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns-3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 ereg.wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate-sea.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 wwis-dubc1-vip60.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate-sjc0.adobe.com

This is it. The trick is to prevent your system from connecting to the websites.

However, you may face problems modifying the hosts file depending on your Windows security. You may need to right click on the Notepad file and run it as administrator before you open the hosts file on it.

How to get google cache age of any url or web page

March 6, 2013 Posted by Skai

If a webpage or website is being taken down and you wish to view the contents again, you may want to search Google Cache.

Type the URL into the address bar of your browser and Google will give you the last cache image of the webpage.

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:

Example:

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:imusingwindows.com

This can be useful to view the webpage without actually visiting it, however, you will not get the most updated version of it.
